worn again

To raise awareness about the detrimental impact of fast fashion, our sustainable design class hosted a free clothing exchange on the University of Utah campus. Worn Again aimed to educate audiences about the industry while providing ways we can mitigate our fashion footprint.

bring clothes. take clothes. it’s all free.

Quite often, we don’t see behind the scenes of how day-to-day products are made—and that’s where Worn Again came in. Our intention was to bring to light just how heavily the fashion industry impacts the environment. From growing cotton, to dyeing jeans, to mass-producing clothing that may never be bought, waste is rampant in the system.

The title Worn Again encapsulated our goal: to give a second life to our clothing. Through a collection of display cases, posters, wayfinding, clothing collection bins, brochures, and a looping video during the event, we presented our research and made a call for change.

forward fashion.

By hosting this event, we took a step towards a more sustainable future in fashion. We wanted our audience not only to be more aware of how their choices can impact the environment, but to walk away with a positive outlook knowing they can make a difference.

We collected over fifty bags of clothing, most of which were taken or exchanged at the event. The remaining bags were donated to local charities. While the sheer amount of clothing given a new home was exciting, the immeasurable impact we had on our audiences is what truly made a difference, and hopefully will for years to come.
